A short circuit analysis is a study of a facility’s electrical system under fault conditions between three phases or line to line or line to ground.  Under these scenarios, current flowing through different parts of the electrical system is substantially different from normal current. This can cause equipment failure; therefore, proper equipment is selected based on this study analysis to with stand the forces of short circuit current and OCPDs should be capable to interrupt these substantial currents.
